India
Food
A samosa is a deep fried pastry with a filling of meat or vegetables, often including potatoes. It is served hot, usually with a sweet sauce for dipping.
Music
The standard sitar has seven strings to play, and another 11-13 strings to vibrate and add sound. A gourd at one end makes the sound louder. The sitar is popular in northern India. A similar instrument, the veena, is popular in southern India.
Sport
Cricket is played with a bat and ball. The bowler (kind of like a baseball pitcher) bowls the ball, and aims to knock over three standing sticks (the wicket) just behind the batsman. The batsman tries to hit the ball and protect the wicket.
Flag
The Indian flag is dark saffron (an orangey yellow) on top, white in the middle, and dark green at the bottom. In the center is the Ashoka Chakra, a Buddhist symbol celebrating life.
