Making Kenkey

Mavis Macomie starts dinner. She's wondering if she should make fufu (mashed yam or cassava) or Kenkey, (corn dumplings) to go with the spicy stew her mother makes.


At last, the end of the day has come and it's time for dinner. We usually have dumplings instead of potatoes or rice. There are corn dumplings called kenkey, and mashed yam, or cassava called fufu. But there's no doubt that when there is desert, it's always something chocolate. That's because Ghana is one of the largest exporters of cocoa, the main ingredient in chocolate.
