No Matter What Day It Is, There's Always More Laundry

H. Bartholomew pitches in to help his sisters with the laundry. Not many people have a washing machine in Ghana, so it's all hands on deck to get the laundry done!


Hung Out to Dry

Selasie Akabutu won't have long to wait until her laundry is dry. That's because the average temperature in Ghana is about 78 degrees, so clothes dry FAST.

It always seems like there's more wash to do! We use big tubs to soak and scrub our clothes. Then we have to hang them out to dry. Last of all is the ironing. It's almost an all-day job! Luckily, it's so hot and dry here in Accra that it doesn't take too long for the clothes to dry on the line.

Mary Kudjo is almost done with her laundry. Just a little more ironing to do. Phew!
