Tavan Mwadime sits in his lettuce field. This kind of lettuce is used to make a special salad called kachumbari that is served with a roasted meat dish called nyama choma.

| Since the school is in the country, there are a lot of farms in the area. Most of Kenya's business comes from farming. Day-students have to help on their family farm when they get home. And some of the boarding students even have gardening chores to do in the school's kitchen garden.
